Detours, Ducks, and Dragonfruit: A Ride to Piney Point.
Southern Maryland rides sneak up on you. One minute you're dodging suburban sprawl, the next you’re gliding past cornfields and forgotten marinas like time hit pause.
This ride started with a fist shake at the GPS (because of course it rerouted us through someone's backyard), but once the road opened up—so did my brain. Solomons brought the breeze. Piney Point brought the stillness. And The Ruddy Duck brought the IPA that reminded me why I keep doing this.

A Tank and a Half of Perspective
I didn’t have a grand plan. Just a direction, a tank and a half of gas, and a loose idea of where I might stop if the weather held and my nerves didn’t get the best of me. There were moments I wanted to turn back—cold hands, hungry belly, thoughts racing—but I didn’t. I let the ride happen. One mile, one breath at a time.
Turns out, some of the best rides start with no expectations and end with sore muscles, a full stomach, and a clearer head.

Sometimes, it's the short rides that leave the deepest tracks.
